Just some random updates today.

Dear finally registered for his course while I have yet to even fill in the application form for mine. All because of the funding issue. More on than on another day.

Money No Enough 2 and The Mummy 3 is finally opening~!!! Too bad we don't have enough money to enjoy Gold Class. =P Maybe in September... Haha. 2nd year anniversary~! Yay-ness. I'm obviously very "high" today. Anyway, what is Gold Class like? I'm such a mountain mushroom. >.<

I finally beat Dear at Chinese Chess~! Getting better at it, although the part about having to think ahead is really tiring. I'm very lazy. Haha.

Okay okay. I'm ending this crappiness. I'm back to playing bridge at Viwawa. Hehs.

Seems like I've finally been bitten by the blogging bug again. Haha. Just finished reading Xiaxue's post about plagiarism. People following the whole episode between her and Dawn will very obviously know who Xiaxue is referring to. If not, try visiting http://www.dawnwayang.com/. ^^

Anyway on the bus today, I again saw the inconsiderate side of Singaporeans. The whole 291 bus was so freaking crowded and there was still a long line of peopl who couldn't get on. Yet this auntie and her family stuck themselves near the door. I was right at the back with another guy and there was this HUGE space in between that could have stood at least 5 or 6 more people. Doesnt seem like alot, but spare a thought for the people in front lah. Besides, if you don't want to move in, at least leave some space so that other people can move in, don't chock up the entire bus. Get your own minivan, auntie.

As all these thoughts were running through my mind on the bus, I was also going "Am I complaining too much?"

And this is how I came to the conclusion that its not that Singaporeans love to complain. Its because we always do things that make others complain.

Let's talk about the most common issue of "chop-ing" seats in foodcourts, coffee shops and such places. I think no one can possibly complain much if there's a person sitting at the table and telling people that "Yes, this seat is taken. My friends are over there ordering". But instead, people use things like tissue paper packets, umbrella, sauce-sets and all sorts of insignificant items to "mark their territory". Like I'm supposed to look at the thing and know "Oh! This seat is taken!"

Stupid or what? People. Next time you see people using things like tissue packets to reserve seats, please just sit down and throw the tissue packet away. Serve them right. Oh yeah. Sauce-sets are refer to those little saucers that people use for their chilli sauce and stuff. I didn't know exactly what to call them so I used the Fish & Co term for them. Haha. Clever people should know what I'm referring to lah. =P

How did this trend even start in the first place huh? Maybe our ancestors put their handkerchiefs on hawker centre tables to show that the table was taken up by them? And then now people don't use handkerchiefs anymore so it evolved into tissue paper packets? Imagine what would happen if the same people went overseas and did the same thing: Shame the image of Singaporeans. Tsk tsk.

There are many many issues that people have complained and campaigned about but all these actions seem to be useless. Which other country do you know has a campaign for people to "Flag The Bus Early"? Its excusable for senior citizens or other special needs people to perhaps not be able to clearly see the number or the bus or something like that, but how many times have you seen perfectly able-bodied young people jumping up and rushing to the bus after everyone else has boarded and the doors have closed? These people deserve to miss the bus. *I am not talking about people who rush for the bus from a distance away*.

Guaranteed, I'm not a perfect person, but I think there are alot of disgusting habits that Singaporeans can rid themselves of.

Just last week, I saw this uncle hogging up the seat next to him with a bar of Toblerone chocolate. The whole bus was pretty full with almost all of the seats taken and this Chinese guy was looking for a place to sit near the standing area so that he could keep and eye on the luggage he'd put there (the standing area was empty since everyone already had a seat). The uncle saw him looking around and purposely shifted the Toblerone bar to the center of the seat next to him, as though saying "My chocolate needs this seat more than you". Asshole.

And because I have suddenly gone into a super duper bad mood, I shall abruptly end here. Goodnight.

Avril Lavigne is coming to Singapore~!

Not that I care. Haha. This is just for the lack of things to blog about.

Another thing. Remember the Sichuan earthquake? Well, even though its been over for quite some time now, the survivors are still barely picking up their lives. Whether you have or have not done your part to help, there is something you can do to help these poor people.

All Popular bookstores now carry this "245-page pictorial book" entitled Sichuan Don't Cry. Each copy costs $20 and all procceds will be donated to the Habitat for Humanity "to give the victims an even better chance to rebuild their lives".

~*~

Dear and I watched Prom Night today. Pretty disappointing movie. *Spoilers ahead*. Skip to the next ~*~ if you don't want to read them.

The female lead is pretty. Haha. And her "boyfriend" is super-duper-oh-my-freaking-god handsome. Hunk. =P

I'm too lazy to look up their names so I'm just going to either use their names in reel life or refer to them as the female/male lead or whatever.

Firstly, the story is little dumb. Predictable and dumb. Especially this part when "Lisa", the friend of the female lead, is trying to escape the psychotic murderer and ends up at this deserted place. There are lots of junk and plastic "curtains" hanging around. Very typical "person-going-to-be-killed" kind of place.

The thing is, they're in a hotel for god's sake! And its supposed to be this really grand and posh hotel. What kind of stupid hotel will ever have such a place? Even if they do, how could it possibly be so accessible by their guests? Stupid or not?

And the victims who die. They're supposed to have been stabbed to death. Its supposed to be bloody and grisly and all, but NO. Their clothes just have these medium-sized patches of blood that look more like a girl's period or something. Lame-O. Even the ending is so...... indescribable.

Let's just say that the director/producer or whoever it was couldn't come up with some brilliant ending so they made it this way.

On a better note, the female lead's acting is pretty good. Her expression when she realised that the psycho was in her room was fantastically genuine.

If you still want to catch it, go for the days when the $6 rates are available. That way you won't feel that huge a pinch on your wallet. Haha.

Some random pictures:

Dinner at some Japanese restaurant (I forgot the name) at Parco Bugis on Wednesday:

Dear's Grilled Chicken with Omu Curry Rice. Or something like that. It tastes heavenly. I love the omelette that melts in your mouth and the really tasty curry.

Photobucket
My spaghetti. With balls. Lol. That the thingy that Tori-Q calls chicken balls. The menu had some Jap. name for it but I can't remember. Overall pretty yummy, but nothing very special.

And today at McDonald's......

Photobucket

You see, the whole place was filled to the brim; there were at least three or four groups of people waiting for seats and this bitch does this kind of thing. I "mutilated" her face so that she can't sue me or anything.

Why aren't the managers doing their job? Or is it perfectly alright to buy a drink and hog the whole place? Beside her was another girl doing the exact same thing. Talk about inconsideration.
*Extremely pissed off*

Alright. Off the bed. I'm offically sick again. =(

And there goes my tagboard. Haha.

My house has been going under repainting works these past few days and the smell is horrible! My room was one of the first to be painted and I had to spend yesterday night sleeping with the fumes choking me as though it were smoke. No exaggeration.

Now I'm sick again. Just less than a month ago I almost lost my voice and now the same part of my throat is feeling raw and sore again. Dammit. What an unworthy way to get sick. Haha.

Dear and I have been going to the libraries way too often. So much that is almost on a daily basis. Yesterday we were at National Library, today at Sengkang, and tomorrow we're going to Woodlands to continue scouring the shelves for psychology, history and doggy books. Haha.

Dear was saying that he wants to get another dog as a companion for poor, lonely Sheltie but apparently HDB only allows 1 dog per flat. So stingy... But that also means that my neighbour has broken the law! They have two greyish doggies (don't know their breed) who they're always carrying around like babies or something. I love dogs, but not those that once shat outside my house. Overnight somemore. Fucking smelly okay.

So anyway, it means that Sheltie will have to continue to be lonely during the day because the whole family won't be at home. I'll be working as well, so I can't go and accompany him either.

Oh yea, after searching many travel books on Canada, we discovered that they don't mentioned Richmond very much. Probably because its so freaking near to Vancouver. Now Dear says maybe he will want to stay in Vancouver instead, since its bigger and more accessible and everything. SORRY. Your Stubborn Highness still prefers Richmond. Unless I change my mind while we vacation there to check out the place. Nyeh Nyeh. But then again, that's still at least one or two years to go.

In the meantime, we'll be saving up for the air tickets and everything. We estimated a 1-month stay to cost approximately 5k or more. Super expensive! Haha. Actually... quite worth it lah. Haha.

Oh, and last but not least, I've met the most idiotic cock-talker in the whole universe. You know who you are. LOL.

All of a sudden, I've got so many materials to read. Manga, psychology books, storybooks etc.

That's the bad thing about having library cards with available slots.

I'm hooked onto Hikaru no Go (manga), currently reading 2 psychology-related books, and still have 1 storybook and 1 book on Qin Shi-Huang to peruse. Oh. And a long list of pending mangas.

Information overload. Haha.

Curiously, the result of reading too many mangas is that I am unable to properly read English comics. You know those kind where you find in Popular. I keep reading from right to left, like how I usually read mangas. Haha. Super confusing.

By the way, I'm currently looking for English versions of The Three Kingdoms. Hopefully in novel-forms. Up till now, I can only find the comic versions in Popular, which suck. If anyone stumbles across this blog and has the faintest idea where to find such books, please email me. Thanks in advance.

For the second time in my whole blogger life, I'm considering taking off my tagboard. Its deadness affects my entire blog~!

My blog will probably be left to rot for the next couple of days, or even weeks, because I'll be busy reading and going for job interviews and such. Busy days ahead. Sighs...

Dinner at McDonalds (Compass Point) today was extremely and utterly disgusting.

Maybe I am just too used to the wonderful service I usually get at Northpoint, or maybe it was just too busy, but the ordering process was painfully tedious.

My order: 1 McSpicy meal, upsized, and a McFlurry.

It took almost 10 minutes for them to get me a cup of Coke Light, a Large Fries, the burger itself, and my ice cream.

I'd understand if only one person was doing all the work, but NO. There were close to 10 staffs packed behind the counter, all assisting here and there. Or so it seemed. And they even forgot to upsize my drink, resulting in me having to repeat "I upsized my meal" more than twice.

And when I finally got my order and went to the table where Dear was waiting for me...

TA-DAH~!
Photobucket

Too small to see? let Yours Truly reveal the mystery.

That thing encircled in red is a baby cockroach.

YES. A cockroach in McDonalds! I don't care whether it is a baby or an adult or even an elderly cockroach which is about to die. Something associated with the words "dirty", "filthy", "digusting" and a whole range of other related vocabulary should NEVER appear in places selling food.

And since it was so frigging busy in the restaurant, all we could do was sit as far away as we could from the horrendous fiend. Anyway, is it part of their job to catch the cockroach? If I were a part-timer and someone asked me to catch a cockroach I'd quit on the spot. Haha.

I tell you... It is extremely disturbing and stressful to eat anything with a cockroach on the wall in front of you. The worry that it will fall into your food nags at you, so that one cannot eat in peace and when the disgusting creature suddenly disappears out of sight, it causes a slight panic. Like, "Where did the bloody bugger crawl to? Is it anywhere near me?!?!?"

Bad experience.

And that's not all. When I was at the counter, someone apparently came to complain about the curry sauce being spoiled. I thought it only applied to that two packets they were complaining about. After all, in so many years of being a McDonalds customer, I have never come across spoiled food or sauces or whatsoever.

I asked for 4 packets of curry sauce and this was what I got:

Photobucket

See the reddish tinge at the side? ALL the 4 packs that I was given were like that. How to eat?

Imagine if someone thought it was normal and ate the sauce and came down with food-poisoning. Horrible!

I am going to go out of my way to avoid dining at Compass Point's McDonalds.

Still considering whether to complain to McD's HQ. Should I???

I'm officially stopping tuition as a part time job. I already told my Hougang client that I will stop teaching at the end of this month. Instead, I'll be doing admin or data entry jobs. Full time. Which spells the end of my freedom, but also means more income. Haha.

And I will also be able to apply for funding from NTUC Income. Up to 80% of my course fees. Which means I pay peanuts for my CAT. A freaking awesome deal.

By the way, how come information about Richmond, B.C seems so hard to find? Books on Canada cover information on Vancouver but very little is mentioned about Richmond. I am damned interested in finding out all I can about that place, so if anyone has any information that you think might be useful, please email me or just leave a tag. But please don't link me to wikipedia. That would be stupid.

The Dark Knight has officially opened in all cinemas today and I managed to catch it this morning at Lido. Its an awesome movie, on par with Red Cliff, and just as long. At 153 minutes, it was a miracle I didn't have to keep running to the toilet, although tide was pretty high by the time the movie ended.

The good thing about The Dark Knight is that even though its 2.5 hours long, the entire length of the movie was engaging enough not to make you want to throw popcorn at the screen. The way the movie was cut, it seemed as though the plot would never end, and funnily, I didn't seem to mind even if it continued on, disregarding the fact that I needed the toilet badly and was unwilling to use the one in the theatre.

Something about toilets in the theatres freak me out. Too many ghost stories and the stillness of the toilets make them super duper eerie. But anyway, the main point is, The Dark Knight is worth watching lah. Haha.

Super random post. Ending soon I promise.

I finally paid off my National Library fines. After owing for more than 2 years. Haha. NLB surely hates me.

Now I can borrow all the history books I want. I've suddenly developed a very keen interest in ancient China history. 5000 years of history and the longest civilisation in the world. And its all part of my ancestry. Hard not to be proud eh?

I bought this book (damn cheaply, $6.90 only!!!) at Popular by Iris Chang titled The Chinese in America which basically talks about the huge influx of Chinese immigrants into America. To digress, some of the details about how the Chinese were treated made me feel damn pissed.

The level of racism was freaking atrocious. Chinese were just lowdown as Negro slaves. And in my opinion, the blacks shouldn't even have become slaves in the 1st place. Afterall, they were the first people inhabiting America. Imagine someone comes along, takes over your country and then enslave you. What the fuck right?

Back to ancient China/Chinese history. The book by Iris Chang, who also wrote The Rape of Nanking, touched a little on the history before the PRC today and it got me interested in all the dynasties and their emperors. Blah blah blah. And according to the history books and information I've been reading about the topic, China people were apparently either super greedy or plainly had nothing else to do. Not the peasants, but the kings and emperors.

How come one bloody country spend centuries fighting war after war? From memory, during one period, China was warring throughout 200 years of history. Thats 20 generations of people living through all that fighting! Imagine when you're born, people are fighting and killing each other, and until the day you die, the same old people are still fighting for the same old thing. And at the end of the day they fight for nothing. Stupid or what?

Of course, the above are just personal opinions. Must state clearly first. Haha. And speaking of borrowing books, the Sengkang library totally SUCKS. The section on history books is so small that it might as well not exist at all. Call that a library? *Spits*

Okay lah. That's a long enough post for today. Its been a long time since I've been so enthusiastic about blogging.

Oh yea. Regarding the McD thingy, do you think I should drop the HQ an email?

P.S. Dear and I will still end up in the same school because he's decided to go for the Kaplan Psychology courses instead. Wee~~!! Too bad we enrol at different times. Haha. Sleeping time~!!

I managed to catch both Hellboy 2 and Red Cliff on their opening dates.

What I want to rant about is Hellboy 2. And no, comments aren't exactly positive.

The full title of the movie is Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. Somehow, one would expect the golden army to be the main focus of the movie, but sadly, it is not. The whole movie dragged on and on until the last 30 minutes or so that the golden army finally appears. And action is limited to them fighting Hellboy and gang, with the Prince and Princess looking on.

Boring.

I was looking forward to the golden army shitheads storming down the streets and whacking the living daylights out of people, destroying infrastructure... You know, the dramatic wreckage scenes.

What I get is the "I-fight-you-and-you-fight-me-back banter." Absolutely, positively, fuckamazing boring.

I'm not saying the entire movie sucks. In fact, I'd probably rate it 3.5 stars or so, but the plot aint that great actually.

I much prefer Red Cliff. And now, I'm going to be so 'ants-in-my-pants' anxious waiting for the second part. Damn John Woo.

In the meantime, let's all look forward to Money No Enough 2. Another great laugh.

~*~

I know QR will be coming back soon, but no I won't be going to the airport to receive her flight. Even if it isn't at some ridiculous timing. Because I know my presence doesn't really mean anything to her, so it'd just be a stupid thing to do.

Yes, people... I am finally coming all out to acknowledge that YES I know she has something against me- or at least, she did before she went to China- and while I may not know what exactly it is about, I am proud enough not to impose myself on others.

Dear and I were talking about the possibility of having a life out of Singapore and we got really interested in Richmond, Canada. Its a relatively small town in Vancouver with lots of Asians and Chinese living there. Sounds pretty ideal except for the little fact that its prone to flooding. Bullocks. Haha.

So anyway, we were doing some research on the place, including costs of houses there and guess what? The houses are all fuckeramazing awesome! At least hundreds of square feet, which is many many times of a normal HDB flat in Singapore. And considering how flats in Singapore are shrinking in size yet inflating in price... That's saying quite a lot.

The best part is, you can find one at around 300k. Canadian dollars. Translates to around 400k+ in Singapore dollars. Sounds a lot. But its worth the money, seriously. A condonium unit here costs just about that much, but is so freaking small.

Life in Singapore is getting so stressful. I really need to get away. But that's years down the road. Right now, I can only dream. Haha. A new goal to work towards? Perhaps... ^.^

And yes, that very important post that has been taken down can still be found. Makes my so-very-boring life a speck more interesting. Now, THIS is what I call juicy news. Heh heh.

Which leads me to a question: Is it just a trend, or is it au naturale for girls to pose the same way?

I know this is a topic that many people have complained/bitched about, but it never used to bother me. Except, all of a sudden, now.

I am not trying to insinuate anything. Its just pure curiosity.

Because 90% of the girls who post their photos on their blog pose the exact same way. Head tilted slightly to the left/right and bent a little down, lips pursed slightly, eyes open wide (like they just saw a ghost or something), hair framing the face. Incidentally, all from Singapore.

Having too much time and too little to do, I googled and yahoo-ed around and got linked to many blogs with such pictures. Heck. Even some guys pose that way (which is absolutely fucking G-A-Y.)

Is there a certain reason why many girls like to pose this way? Makes them look cuter and prettier? It makes their faces look at the same. And I should also mention that ALL of those girls who pose that way have the same kind of haircut. Straight, long, brown rebonded hair, with the fringe around chin-length. Shit. I have that same haircut too. Just not as flat, 'cause I haven't rebonded my hair in 3 years.

And to think just 3 hours ago, while on the bus home, I was thinking of rebonding my hair too. I think I'll stick with the treatments. Ahh... the influences of society. Too bad Sadako had her hair growing the wrong way, or she would have become a fashion icon too.

Who knows. Maybe 10 or 20 years down the road, it'll be fashion to pose with your head tilted until it looks broken, hair swept to the front so that only your eyes, nose and mouth remain visible, and smile with like bugs bunny. Imagine.

Blogging is turning into a monthly affair nowadays. My sister's 21st birthday chalet just flew past, and I also managed to lose my voice over the last week. I gym-ed only 3 days out of the 15 I was able to go, which meant I didn't actually get my money's worth. Thanks to my sickness. Oh. And Spain won the Euro Cup after 44 long years. Cheers.

Its back to the MapleStory craze, in a brand new private server done up by ZH's friend. The former, who is getting very much on my nerves. Don't ask why. I'm not going to turn this entry into a dedication.

Along with all the major decisions I've made over the past few months, I've decided that I want to pay for my future education on my own. Starting from my diploma. Very fortunately, ACCA charges on a per-paper basis, which means that I don't have to fork out extensive sums of money at the moment. I'm more concerned about Dear. I can survive with a Bachelor's while he needs a Master's at the very least.

I have still not given up on the hopes of taking vocal lessons, but that dream keeps getting pushed back. Money cannot buy happiness, but its is truly difficult not to worry over my finances.

I'm considering applying for the JET programme, but the idea of staying overseas and away from Dear for up to 2 years makes me hesitate. JET, in case you're wondering, is an exchange programme between selected countries and Japan, where you can actually apply to be a teacher assistant or something of that sort in Japan. This requires you to speak the Japanese language, and reside there for at least a year. Most of the times, longer than that. Its tempting, because its something different, and so much more appealing than following the study-work-die tradition of modern Singapore society. Should I, or should I not? Then again, its 3 years away.

I'm honestly hoping to change of blogging style-to blog about a certain topic or topics instead of blathering about my day which is so-*yawn*-boring. But I need ideas.

The problem with having way too many interests is that its very difficult to pursue all of them, and this adds stress. The even bigger problem with having such a top-priority interest in something like singing is that its even more difficult to make it come true than striking 4D. Exaggerating, but you get my point.

I need to relax, I need to stop my mind from thinking. People think I should be stress-free because I'm not studying now. I tuition only 3 kids and I have a lot of free time on hand. But I'd much rather be juggling work and study, so that at least my brain doesn't have that extra time and energy to think so much, and keep on generating all sorts of funny ideas.

And yes, I officially need a shrink. I thought I was over my depression. Turns out everytime something goes wrong or some argument erupts between me and my family or with Dear, I start having downright pessimistic thoughts. I still envision myself plunging down 8 stories. THAT is truly scary. Not to mention crazy. I need to be more optimistic. Okay. My resolution for the rest of the year: BE MORE OPTIMISTIC. So people, make me smile and don't upset me okay?

-*-

I think I've finally stopped caring so much all that has happened. The 2 of them probably won't last much longer, which is completely expected. Some people ought to start believing in karma. Although I'm no saint either.

No D.K. I don't really fancy a meet-up. It makes me uneasy every time you request it, because you see, I am attached, as subtle me keeps trying to remind you.

I will not be going to the airport to receive any flights. Not hers, not his.
